FLY FISHING:
EASIER THAN IT LOOKS - MORE INTERESTING THAN YOU THINK!
FROM ANCIENT FLIES TO AMERICAN TROUT
JUST COME CURIOUS!
Whether you’ve fly-fished for years or never held a fly rod, come as you are. There’s something here for you.
Fly fishing can look complicated. It doesn’t have to be.
Join us for an entertaining look at nearly 2,000 years of fly-fishing history — from the earliest artificial flies to the development of the American fly-fishing tradition.
Then we’ll take some of the mystery out of the sport itself.
Drawing on nearly 70 years with a fly rod and experience teaching more than 300 people to fly fish, the presentation will introduce the basic tackle, flies and techniques that make fly fishing work.
You’ll also see a live indoor demonstration of the fundamental fly cast, broken down into simple mechanics — lever and fulcrum, acceleration and stop, energy transfer, and the formation of the loop that carries a fly line through the air.
This is not a hands-on casting clinic. You don’t need equipment, experience or any knowledge of fly fishing.
If you already fly fish, you may see the sport in a new way. If you’ve always wondered what fly fishing is all about, this is an easy, comfortable place to start.
Come for the story. Discover how it works. Maybe leave thinking, “I could do this.”
